God’s Word Keeps Us in Truth

A man of God once said, “If you are in a season in your life where you aren’t hearing God’s voice, it’s because you are in a season where you’re not reading His Word”. God’s Word is alive and powerful. It brings direction and clarity. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.” In 2 Kings 22, the Law of the Lord was discovered in the house of God by the high priest and brought before King Josiah. As soon as the king heard the words of the law being read, he fell on his knees and tore his clothes. Why? Because through the reading of God’s Word he discovered that the whole nation was in disobedience. Subsequently, King Josiah abolished all the idolatrous priests and removed all the altars that were dedicated to other gods from all the cities of Judah.  This step of obedience that paved the way for God’s blessing on the nation took place because King Josiah responded to the Word of God. God spoke to him through His Word. Today God still speaks to us through His Word, only now, His wisdom is easily understood and made clear to us by God’s Own indwelling Holy Spirit. He takes the truth of the Word and makes it alive inside our hearts. Then He gives us the desire and the power to walk in that truth keeping us free from sin and living in God’s blessing. If we want to hear His voice and walk in His favour, we must be diligent to read His Word and obey its timeless wisdom.
