There will always be a time where you and I are going to need divine guidance from the Lord. Where we desperately need to hear His heart and wisdom concerning a certain direction or decision we are to make. Praise the Lord, for a child of God, hearing from God is not complicated or difficult at all! Romans 8:14 says that the sons of God (His children), are led by His Spirit! The Holy Spirit with His limitless wisdom lives within us (1 Corinthians 6:17-20). All we need to do is come to Him in prayer and ask for His wisdom to be released from His Spirit into our understanding. And we are to do this with confident faith, fully expecting Him to answer us! (James 1:5). Take whatever situation is bothering you, roll it over upon the Lord by laying it down before Him, committing it entirely to Him. Then ask Him to reveal His wisdom concerning it. You can expect Him to answer you. Listen to that small still voice that sounds like a spontaneous thought in your mind. It may direct you to pray over the issue in tongues, or lead you to a portion of scripture, or release an idea or angle you had never thought of before. Either way, you will recognize it being from God when it is not contrary to His nature, or His Word and it brings great peace and joy with it. Of course, the more time you spend meditating on God’s Word, the more familiar you will become to His way of doing things, and the quicker it will be to discern which thoughts are from His Holy Spirit. This is how He causes our thoughts to come in line with His will. The important thing is to stop worrying and begin trusting and expecting the Lord to direct you. As you learn to live this way, you will find it easier to hear and obey His voice as something you just know to do. You will soon learn that rolling your works and cares on the Lord, will cause Him to adjust your thoughts to align with His will, and as you walk in it – all you do will be established and succeed! (Psalm 37:5).
