Have the Right Perspective

God promised the children of Israel that they would inhabit a land He had made just for them.  Even though that land was inhabited by other fearsome nations at the time, they were to enter and inhabit anyway – and they were not to be afraid, but trust in Him, obey His instructions – and the land would be theirs!  The time came for them to do just as God told them. As they camped on the opposite side of the Jordan, Moses called 12 spies to go and inspect the land so that they would know what was waiting for them and have the correct strategy to go over and possess the land.  We are told that out of the 12 men, only 2 had a positive report.  Ten men were so full of fear and dread and were more moved by the enemies inside the promised land than they were by God’s promise to inhabit it. When they gave their report, the people were more convinced by the negative reports than the reports that echoed God’s Word to them.  How frustrating this must have been to God, and to Joshua and Caleb. The 2 men saw the very same things the other spies saw, but they saw them from the perspective of what God had promised.  In our Christian walk, all Believers are living in the same world and are faced with the same enemy who constantly tries to steal, kill, and destroy anything good that already belongs to us in Christ.  We also have the same Word of God and the same Holy Spirit living inside us. The reason we don’t all overcome the challenges in life has nothing to do with our circumstances, but everything to do with what perspective we choose to hold on to. Are we filling our minds with the Word of God and believing the truth of what He has said is ours in Christ Jesus, facing every challenge with faith, gratitude, and the authority He has given us?  Or have we adopted the same perspective the 10 spies had, where they were more convinced of and moved by their surroundings and what they saw with their physical senses than the Word of God?  The bottom line is whatever we choose as our perspective is exactly what we will receive. The 10 spies died in the wilderness, never tasting the victory of the promised land, while Joshua and Caleb entered in and prospered. Make God’s perspective your own, and you will never know defeat, remembering that everything you declare will become your reality!
