Higher Thoughts, Higher Ways

It’s interesting to note that the scriptures leading up to this one, give great encouragement and an invitation for us to come to the Lord to hear and receive His wisdom and His will so that we will be satisfied, revived, and brought into close fellowship with Him (Isaiah 55:1,3,6). Which leads us to understand that when He says His thoughts and ways are higher than ours, He isn’t implying they are unobtainable or unfathomable, or beyond our rights to know. Rather, He is indicating that they are higher in a way that they are far better than our own thoughts or ways could every be.  And so He is calling us to make the choice to abandon our own and draw near to  Him to know His! 1 Corinthians 2:16 seals this extremely encouraging thought process when Paul writes, “For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 clearly explains how natural man, without the infilling of the Holy Spirit, is not able to understand the deep things of God, being His thoughts, intents and purposes – because they are spiritually discerned. Paul says we have been given the Holy Spirit to realise, comprehend and appreciate the ways and thoughts of God. We are able to walk in a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know the deep and wonderful insights that can be found in knowing the Person of Jesus in a deep and intimate way (Ephesians 1:17).  Open your heart to hear and know God’s thoughts and ways to lead to a higher life in Him, today.
