How to Overcome the Lie

The Bible clearly tells us what kind of things to expect before Jesus comes to take away His bride from the earth. (Matthew 24:37-39; Luke 17:26-30).  In 1 Timothy 4 we are told how the moral depravity and corruption will not only be in the people of the world, but it will creep its way into the church too. There will be those who give into deceiving, seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.  These doctrines will sound like the truth we know but will have a devilish twist to them. They will proclaim, “God is love and His mercy endures forever. He does not hold our human impulses and preferences against us – as long as we are true to ourselves by living out what pleases our true nature, He will always bless us – because He is for us, not against us! He has given us a free will to choose our own truth, this is what brings Him glory!”  For those of us who know God and His Word, we will easily spot the deception in that statement. But for many in the church, who are not rooted and grounded in the Word of God, they will not. The Bible says false teachers who promise people this false liberty are in fact slaves of corruption themselves and under bondage to the very lie that has overcome them. As true Believers, we know the truth! Our faith is grounded on knowing sin and disobedience to God is what separated us from Him. Only the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ, bought us forgiveness of sin and eternal redemption. He made a way for us to be reconciled to the Father!  Now we no longer live for ourselves, or according to the dictates of our flesh or carnal nature! We are no longer slaves to sin – we are free to live righteous lives for God! We live to please Him alone – through the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit! This is what pleases Him and brings Him glory! Spend time today meditating on these scriptures and let the truth they hold keep you safe from the deception that tries to lure God’s people away from their salvation.
