The Lord always has a way out for us! The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that God is so faithful, He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear, that He will provide a way out for us. Peter was told in Luke 22:31-32 that satan desired to sift him as wheat. Jesus expressed how He had prayed that Peter’s faith would not fail. He knew Peter would fall that very night, yet He prayed for Him that after the fall, Peter would rise converted and enabled to strengthen the other disciples. A while later, Jesus asked Peter, James and John to watch with Him while He went to pray. He returned to find them sleeping. There is a reason why the Lord commands us to do certain things. He knows the end from the beginning – we must heed to His instructions with reverential fear. If Peter had watched and prayed, is it possible that he would have received the strength needed to not deny Jesus later on? When we truly heed to the instructions of our Creator, He who knows us and knows the future, we can be sure supernatural provision for what we need to overcome will be imparted to us. Choosing to abide in Jesus, and paying close attention to His leading through His Holy Spirit will keep us alert and equipped to walk in His perfect path, no matter what pitfalls or distractions are set along the way.
