Once we become born again, the Bible says we have entered into a whole new way of living. It’s called the Kingdom of God way of life. It is a life that is full of righteousness, peace, and the joy of the Holy Spirit! (Romans 14:17). In order to thrive in this new kingdom, we must abandon our old way of living and fill our lives with the things of God. Because we have been given a brand new nature, God’s Own nature, we want to walk before the Lord in purity, where our lives are not cluttered with things that would weaken our faith, or contaminate our walk with the Lord. Praise God for His Holy Spirit, Who lives inside every believer! He is the One Who leads us day by day, moment by moment into the truth that sets and keeps us free from the worlds oppressive ways that bring confusion, fear, guilt and condemnation (John 16:13). The way we walk in the truth is by spending more time in God’s Word than we do reading or watching anything else. As we place our full attention on the truth, the Holy Spirit causes it to come alive inside us and fill our minds with clarity and understanding. We become more sensitive to discern between the things that line up with that truth, and things that oppose it. Living pure before the Lord isn’t a whole bunch of rules and regulations, or a list of what we can or can’t watch or partake in. It is a day by day relationship with the Holy Spirit inside us. He gives us the inner witness to know what pleases Him and is good for us, and what grieves Him and will be harmful to us. Pay careful attention to the things of God by spending time listening to or reading His truth, that way you will be able to sharpen your skill to recognise what is right and good. As a result, your whole life will be filled with that truth. Righteousness, peace, and the joy of the Holy Spirit will be flooding over your thoughts and emotions, and into every part of your physical body – saturating you with the supernatural life and power of God! This is the way we live as children of the light – who belong to the kingdom of God!
