I have heard many people say that the Gospel is free. In truth, following Christ, costs us everything. That’s the greatest miracle of salvation. We get to lay down our old, sinful, selfish natures that were enslaved to sin; and take on a brand new nature in Christ Jesus! Our old self has been nailed to the cross with Christ, it died with Him and was buried with Him. Then, the very same Spirit that raised Jesus to life, raised us IN Him too! Now we get to live with His nature inside our spirit-man! His own Holy Spirit dwells inside us! If this is truly our reality then our lives must reflect His nature. There’s simply no other option. We aren’t saved in degrees or measures. We are either completely saved, or not saved at all. And if we are completely saved then it’s impossible for us to live like the world. Sin has absolutely no appeal to us! We hate wickedness and love righteousness – because this is our new nature! Paul explained this miracle the best when he said, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20). If we started our new life in faith, being totally reliant on God and His power to set us free from the kingdom of darkness; why have some of us abandoned that way, or not learned to continue in it? Paul goes on to warn us to not frustrate the grace of God by refusing to live this new life of faith we have been given! It’s time to live like the new nature of Christ that’s living inside you today!
