Love to Keep God’s Word

The proof of our love for God is our obedience to His words. Having said that, the Word of God is not burdensome. It is alive with power and truth that leads us into a life-style of prosperity and fruitfulness (Psalm 1:2-3; Joshua 1:8). When we meditate on God’s word, the Holy Spirit reveals it’s practical wisdom to us in a way that fills our hearts and minds with great peace and life giving faith! (Romans 8:6; Romans 10:17). When we give ourselves to God’s word by giving it the honour it deserves, which means loving it and welcoming it’s truth into our lives, and doing what it says – it not only deepens our love for God and strengthens our response of faith, it adds virtue to us! (Mark 4:24). That word virtue means excellence of soul. It’s where our minds, our wills, and our emotions are kept in a place of prosperity! They become anchored to God Himself! (Hebrews 6:19-20). As a result, our physical bodies prosper too and remain in good health! (3 John:2). Colossians 3:16 tells us we are able to let the word of God dwell in us richly by maintaining an attitude of thankfulness towards it! If we really understood the priceless treasure we have in knowing and keeping God’s word – we wouldn’t think twice about making it our first priority and the ultimate authority of our lives.  Loving God’s word keeps us loving Him and His ways, and it releases strength and joy into our lives! This is how Jesus felt about the scriptures when He lived as a man here on earth. Hebrews 1:9 records this about Him, “You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” Let these words be said of you – as you too love to keep God’s Word!
