Make Us His Own

There are Christians who believe that God doesn’t require anything of us. That we are here to live our best lives, doing what makes us happy, because God loves us. The Bible however, paints a very different picture.  It says that when we surrender our lives to Christ, our old nature ceases to exist – in fact life becomes all about our carnal ways disappearing, and the life of Christ dominating everything about us (Galatians 2:20). We are expected, as our reasonable service, to die to anything that would identify us to being part of the culture of the world and its ideals, by changing our way of thinking to line up with God’s way of thinking.  This is done through us actually making quality time to meditate on His Word (Romans 12:2). Then, we are required to be continuously filled with His Holy Spirit, living in a state of being controlled by Him! (Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18). What comes next is our purpose – we are told our purpose is to fulfil His purpose! Our call is His call! (Ephesians 1:18). And here’s a useful piece of information – all this was already prearranged before the foundation of the world for us to walk in! (Ephesians 1:4, 2:10).  Hallelujah!  Paul knew what it was to live fully for himself and his own ambitions on the one side, and fully for God on the other.  He made it abundantly clear that there was nothing more important or valuable, or more fulfilling than the latter. After encountering Christ and experiencing His life in Him – he was determined to never let go of a life swallowed up, or hidden in Jesus, where He made him His Own (Colossians 3:3). Are you willing to have Jesus make you His Own too?
