Never Grow Weary of Doing Good!

When we read this scripture with 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 being in the background, it certainly emphasises the urgency for those who love righteousness and hate wickedness, to not grow weary in doing good and standing up for what is right in this world.  2 Thessalonians 2 speaks to the moral and spiritual climate of the church in the last days.  We are warned that there will be a great falling away from the faith, where people who once professed to be believers in Christ, openly practice sin and boldly rebel against what God has called good and right.  The Bible says the Lord’s response to them will be to allow them to fall into an even greater deception.  By the time the Antichrist arrives on the scene, these people will be completely deceived by him. “He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.”  (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).  This sounds much like what is mentioned in the book of Romans 1, where the Lord allowed people who purposefully turned their backs on God to pursue evil ways, to be abandoned to do, “…whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.” (Romans 1:24).  Verse 26 says the Lord, “…abandoned them to their shameful desires.”.  It is essential for every believer to walk in an inseparable relationship with the Holy Spirit and remain full of God’s Word.  This is how we will be marked as those who know the truth, declare it in love, and do what is right in the sight of God. Jesus called it being the light and the salt of the world.  No matter how tiresome, difficult, or unpopular this may become – we must NEVER grow weary of showing this lost and dying world what is right and leads to life, instead of destruction. Let your light shine as you refuse to quit doing what is right and good!
