New Things

There is much to be said about a good routine.  It certainly establishes a healthy and productive way of life. However, when we get too stuck in our ways it can get in the way of God doing something fresh and new in our lives. The moment we settle for comfort, we eliminate opportunities for growth. The same is true in our walk with the Lord. When we become stuck on expecting God to only move in one particular way in our lives; or we become closed to receiving ministry from different styles of teaching, we limit our opportunities to experience Him working in our lives.  In the passage above, God instructs the Israelites to forget the former ways they had followed to experience His protection and provision in their lives, because He was getting ready to show them a whole different way of knowing and seeing His goodness. Many times, in  order for us to experience something new, we have to abandon the old, and incline our hearts to receive whatever new thing the Lord has for us.  If you ever feel stuck in a place of fruitlessness or spiritual stagnation, know that the Holy Spirit will bring forth something new and fresh to lead you into a place of growth and abundance, no matter how spiritually bleak and barren a place you may feel you are currently in.  Open your heart to receive that fresh touch of His presence today and let Him lead you into a whole new revelation of His goodness and care.
