Jesus was preparing His disciples for what was about to take place – Judas, influenced by Satan, was about to give Him up to the authorities. Jesus willingly laid His life down for us. He was completely in agreement with, and fully committed to God’s plan of redemption. He was innocent in every way, and yet He placed Himself between us, and the full onslaught of the fury of hell. He was the perfect sacrifice, taking our place on that cross.
Scripture tells us He endured all He did for the joy of seeing us reconciled to the Father. John 14:31 tells us that it was His love for His Heavenly Father that compelled Him to obey the commandment to lay His life down. That love caused Him to agree to become sin, so that we could become righteous.
Now, we are able to declare boldly, that satan has no claim on us! Now we can show the world the wonder of lives driven by love and obedience to a Heavenly Father Who gave up His only Son for our freedom. This is a beacon of hope to them – promising a life where Satan no longer has a hold over them.
