Our Secure Hope

God is sovereign. He is all knowing, all seeing, and all powerful, and what He declares comes to pass.  Perhaps the greatest hope and confidence we have is that He has said He will NEVER lie, or go back on His Word concerning us. He ALWAYS honours His Word to us. Psalm 138:2 declares that the Lord magnifies His Word above His Name. In other words, He has bound Himself to His Word.  The verse above in Hebrews 6 gives us a promise that when we put our faith and trust in God and the credibility of His Word – He will give us mighty, supernatural, indwelling strength to grasp and hold tightly to this hope! What is this hope? It is that whatever He has promised us – we can trust Him to keep His Word. Now, if we would just spend time meditating on what His Word says about us, we would have something concrete to hold onto! When we take what the Word says we are in Christ Jesus, and believe it with all our heart and speak in line with what we believe – we have a hope.  And if we hold fast to that hope, refusing to let go of it, it will become an anchor that keeps us secure and walking in the reality of that promise. That anchor is spoken about in the next 2 verses. They tell us that hope is anchored in a person and a place! The place is in the very Presence of God, beyond the vail, and the Person is Jesus Himself – the High Priest of our confession of faith! When we believe and speak His Word, without wavering or letting go of that hope – Jesus Himself presents it to the Father and it is done! Because the Father ALWAYS hears and does whatever Jesus asks Him (John 14:13, Matthew 18:18-20). This is our secure hope in Him!
