As we have received new life through Jesus Christ, we must not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). Knowing the strategy of the enemy is important in the grand scheme of war so that we can be alert and prepared to counterattack and stay clear of his ambushes. Ephesians 4:27 tells us to leave no room or foothold for the devil, and give him no opportunity in our lives. One of the ways we give him place is by laying down our peace. The Bible says that peace is part of the kingdom of God lifestyle – in other words – it belongs to us (Romans 14:17). Now, we lay down our peace by yielding to thoughts of worry and doubt that give rise to anxiety and fear. Why is anxiety and fear so dangerous? Well, the bible says fear is a spirit (2 Timothy 1:7), and it cannot co-exist with faith. In fact, when our faith becomes contaminated with any amount or form of fear, it is rendered inoperable. In 1 John 5:4, we are told that we overcome and are victorious over every trial in this world by our faith, which is why we must never entertain any thoughts that are attached to fear because they will weaken our faith and make it useless. So pay attention to your thoughts, know the strategy of the enemy is to attack your mind and manipulate you to come into agreement with fear and not faith. The moment you recognise wrong thoughts reject them and replace them with the truth of God’s Word that relates to the circumstance you are thinking about – and peace will rise up strong in you again! Remain diligent in this area and you will become so skilful in recognising the tactics and strategy of the enemy – giving him no opportunity to steal your peace and weaken your faith!
