Pearl of Great Price

Jesus told this parable about a merchant who specialised in seeking out precious and beautiful pearls.  One day he came across a single pearl he considered so valuable that he sold all he had to pay for that single pearl of great price. Jesus was referring to His Father being that merchant, and each individual person as the single pearl of great price. The Almighty God, Maker of heaven and earth, chose to give the life of His only begotten Son to become the payment for our redemption and reconciliation to Himself.  The Father considered us worthy of giving the life blood of His precious Son to save us.  This kind of love is so fierce and so pure, it’s difficult to grasp, yet alone embrace.  But no matter how bazaar the concept seems, it is true.  God loved and still loves us individually, so much that He values a life with each of us to the point of giving up the life of His Only, perfect Son, to pay for an eternal relationship with us.  We are living in days where this God kind of love must be shared by everyone of us who know and enjoy it.  The world has been catapulted into days where there is great trouble all around and people are in fear and turmoil.  2 Peter 3 speaks of scoffers who make fun of the notion of Jesus returning for His church as though that day will never come.  But it’s that same fierce love that causes His delay – because He doesn’t want one person to perish.  However, the time of no more delays is at the door, and we must, with great urgency, reach out to the lost with that great love we so freely received!  Make a point of telling someone about God’s love today, so they can be filled with it and have the reassurance of spending an eternity being embraced by it.
