People have a natural desire to be recognised and noticed for their efforts, and not be taken for granted. It’s evident in small children who thrive when recognised for good behaviour. Adults in the corporate world strive to be recognised for their excellence, the over-achieving mom strives to excel in juggling all her responsibilities. Even those serving in their local church delight in being recognised for their tireless acts of service. Yet inevitably, there are times our efforts are overlooked, and gone unnoticed, while others receive honour and promotion. For the believer, however, we have no need to fear being overlooked or set aside. When we treasure the wisdom that comes from God’s Word, and embrace it with all our hearts, applying its principles to our lives – it will immediately go to work and produce the quality of character in us that will never go unnoticed. The Word we esteem above our own desires will transform us, empower us, promote, and honour us – more than we could ever achieve on our own. Give yourself to the Word and it will be all the promotion you’ll ever need.
