Colossians 3:2 (KJV): “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

The Message translation of this passage says, “So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ – that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective.” As citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, and joint-heirs with the victorious Son of God, “shuffling along” is not our portion; we are called to see things from the perspective of heaven, far above the acceptable culture around us, including the culture that has a form of godliness but denies God’s power.
Jesus overcame the cross so we wouldn’t be steamrolled by the effects of sin and death. All that is Jesus, in His glorious fullness, lives inside us! It’s time to lift our heads out of despair and lock our attention on what is far more real than anything else! His nature, His victory, His perspective, His love, His power, His joy, strength, and peace – everything that is locked up in the Person of Jesus is ready to be let loose like a mighty river of life inside of you.
So lift your attention off the problems and open your heart to the answer that lives inside you – the Presence of God. Pursue everything that leads to knowing Him more and let the power flowing from His resurrection life lead your way to perpetual victory and joy!
