Pursue Holiness and See God

Living holy is not something that is confined to the pages of the Old Testament. It is something that is needed in the church today, and now more than ever! The Bible tells us that in the last days lawlessness will abound and the love of many will grow cold. In Romans it says the wages of sin is death. Sin carries both physical and spiritual consequences. In John’s first epistle, he says that if we go on sinning deliberately, we demonstrate that the truth is not in us. He emphasises that whatever is born of God does not continue to sin. While God will always forgive a soul that is truly repentant and contrite, while we are exempt from the eternal consequences, we aren’t promised exemption from the natural consequences of our actions. When David sinned by sleeping with another man’s wife and then murdering her husband, the Lord put his sin away, but the child of their infidelity died. Sin always carries consequences. Just as holiness was a requirement under the Old Covenant, it is a necessity for those who seek to live in God’s abundant life today. Without holiness we cannot see the Lord.  Which means we cannot enjoy intimacy with Him in fellowship or His Word. We are to be perfect and complete as our heavenly Father is perfect. Going forward, we must strive to keep our garments of righteousness clean (Rev 3:4) which is only done through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8 tells us that while we deliberately choose to walk in and according to our re-born spirits, we will not fulfil the lusts of the flesh. The more we meditate on who we are in Christ Jesus, the more we will begin living from that point of reference and no longer live according to our old sinful ways of the flesh. That’s because allowing our spirit-man to dominate our thoughts and actions – we put to death the works of the flesh. In fact, we completely lose our appetite for the things of the world and delight in the wonderful treasures of God’s kingdom! Decide to pursue a lifestyle of holiness, so you can enjoy a lifetime of knowing and experiencing God.
