Jesus was the greatest example of how we are to live life on earth. When we live with a Heavenly perspective, and constantly feed our minds with His thoughts, we begin to be just like Him. We stop being easily bothered and frustrated with people and circumstances, and begin to enjoy life, recognising God’s blessing and goodness all around us. Jesus modelled this in a perfect way. The Bible says He loved doing right and hated wickedness, and He demonstrated more joy than any of His companions! (Psalm 45:7). He was like this, because He imitated His Father! The Bible says in John 5:19 that Jesus never did anything without first hearing from the Father. Whatever God instructed, Jesus did, and this caused Him to live supernaturally in the natural world. Hebrews 1:3 says that Jesus is the sole expression of God’s glory and the perfect image of His nature! When we begin to focus on the person of Jesus, as His Word describes Him to be, we fall in love with His brilliant, never changing nature, and are moved by His kindness and compassion. The more time we spend learning about Him and speaking to Him, we are influenced by His goodness. We begin to think like Him, speak like Him, and act like Him. This is where we become active followers of Jesus – taking on His good nature as we surrender our own to Him.
