The Favour of God in our lives is activated by the wisdom of God we choose to adhere to and live by. The perfect will of God can only be enjoyed when we decide to walk in the ways of God. Even when there is a way that seems right to man to achieve favour from others, we must first seek God’s way to favour instead. Which is what Daniel did. Although he was presented with the finest food of the land, it was not what he had been brought up to eat under the Lord’s instruction. Because he cared more about pleasing God than the eunuch who was in charge of his stay in the palace, he respectfully declined what was offered him, and asked for a different meal plan. This was a risky move for Daniel. He wasn’t a guest, he was a slave captured from a foreign land. He had no business making any requests. His request could have caused him severe punishment, even death. But God’s hand was on him because he honoured God and chose to please Him regardless of the risk. As a result, he walked in great favour with those who were in authority over him. God’s favour never left Daniel, in fact, in spite of all the cunning plans made by those who were jealous of him, to destroy him – God kept His hand of favour upon him. When he was thrown into the lion’s den for pleasing God more than obeying the government, He was miraculously saved! The favour of God on our lives causes us to have favour with man. Decide to embrace God’s Word, which is wisdom, with all your heart and His favour will be upon you, as it was with Daniel.
