Regain Your Authority
There is a type of worldly mindset that creeps its way into our lives preventing us from walking in the full freedom and authority we have in Christ Jesus. Reading the above scripture in context, we see this wasn’t the first time the disciples had the opportunity to cast out devils and see people set free. So why did they fall short this time? Perhaps the answer is in verse 17, “O faithless and perverse generation”.

We’re constantly surrounded by evil, doubt, and unbelief simply because we’re in this world. Our flesh is repeatedly being fed, causing it to dominate our thoughts and emotions. By prayer and fasting, we place our full attention on drawing near to the Lord and His ways, and we shut off the influences that puff up our carnal nature. This is where all doubt and unbelief are silenced and our faith in God is empowered, as our confidence in His promises is built up.

We become innately aware of the authority we have in Christ and the resurrection power of His Spirit that resides within us – enabling us to put the devil on the run, without fail. So, spend time alone with God and His Word, separated from the distractions of this world – and watch how your authority in Christ is regained.
