Respond with Blessing

From eternity’s perspective, the way we have been treated by others doesn’t matter as much as our response to what was said or done to us. When we envelope ourselves in the love of God and prioritize His Word above all else, we will consistently find strength to choose the way of the Lord instead of our flesh.  That’s because we understand how to trust the ability of the Holy Spirit within us and His promise to always lead us into life and victory. Resilience in life has much to do with how we see ourselves. When we know that we are hidden in Christ and that we are complete in Him – our security is sure! And when we realize He is coming soon to take us to be with Him in heaven – the injustices done to us here and now, pale in comparison to the glory of what awaits us. In 2 Corinthians 4:17 Paul says, “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”  This kind of perspective, no matter the trial, will make us more resilient to trouble, and our cheerfulness will dominate, outshine, and outlast any harsh words or things done to offend us. God will turn around every evil done when we choose to respond His way.  However, when we find ourselves desperately wanting to repay evil for evil, it means we haven’t been fully renewed our minds to His ways, and our hearts are not fully surrendered to Him. God would not expect something of us that He hasn’t already equipped us to do – through the power of His Holy Spirit.  The AMPC version of 1 Peter 3:9 says when we repay wrong with blessing, we will “… obtain a blessing as heirs, bringing welfare and happiness and protection].” Hallelujah – what a glorious promise to enjoy when we respond to every wrong with blessing!
