Resurrection Power

The Apostle Paul declared that intimately knowing the Person of Jesus was the most important thing! It was his chief purpose in life. Then he said that equally important to knowing Jesus, was to know the power that flows from His resurrection. That’s because that resurrection power is able to transform us into the very image of Jesus Christ! The word know in this verse speaks about experiential knowledge.

When it comes to knowing the Person of Jesus and His resurrection power, head knowledge is not enough. Nothing can replace or take away from the personal experience of encountering the Person of Jesus. We can trust the Holy Spirit to make Him real to us as we spend time in His Presence in worship, prayer, and meditating on the Word of God.

There is no mechanical or religious formula for this. It’s by faith that we open our hearts to the Word of God and let His Holy Spirit reveal His character to us. Then we respond by telling Him how we feel about His goodness and faithfulness towards us. His still, small voice inside our hearts will begin a spontaneous conversation of love and life and His wisdom and truth will flow.

The revelation and conviction that comes from these precious moments prompts us to obey His instructions and our lives begin to fall in line with His will. We become alive to God and dead to sin, as His resurrection power transforms us one encounter at a time.
