Rooted and Grounded

The heart of a man, according to Thayer’s Definition, consists of the following: Firstly, the soul or mind, which is the seat of thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, and purposes. Secondly, his will and character. Paul expresses in Ephesians 3:16 that our inner man must be strengthened by the indwelling Holy Spirit, Who alone has the power to change it.

How does this happen? When we meditate on the Word of God, we allow the Spirit to take its truth, wash away incorrect mindsets (Ephesians 5:26) and produce life and peace in us (Romans 8:6). This is when the Spirit of God dominates our inner man, and Christ dwells richly in us! We instantly know when we come to this place because our hearts enter what the Bible calls, the place of rest.

This is where our faith in God is secure and there are no conflicting emotions like fear and despair pulling at us. Since we are rooted and grounded in God’s love for us, we are unable to be swayed by lies, doubt and unbelief. Christ dwelling in our hearts is our portion – embrace it today.
