Set Your Heart on Him

Many people avoid quiet moments alone in order to not face the dissatisfaction and loneliness in their hearts – something that can only be filled by God. The yearning in our spirits is for more of Him. Understanding this truth sets us free from searching to fill any void in our hearts with anything outside of Him! In the Psalms, we see David pouring out his heart of thankful praise to the God who satisfies his soul (Psalm 42)!  If you find yourself needing a fresh touch of His refreshing grace, and warm embrace, simply open your heart to Him and thank Him for His faithfulness and love.  Philemon 1:6 says that as we acknowledge every good thing we have in knowing Christ, our faith is made effective!  We become increasingly aware of His presence that wells up within us, causing us to overflow with His tender care and kindness towards us. In this, our hearts cry out to Him to fill us up with more of Himself!  This is where the Spirit of God within us helps us to express our grateful love to the Lord in return, and like the psalmist, we declare that our hearts will be devoted to Him, all the days of our lives! When we use those quiet moments doing this, we will never face moments of dissatisfied loneliness again!
