Spirit and Truth

The Bible teaches us that we have an inner-man of the heart, called our spirit-man; a soul, which comprises of our intellect, will and emotions; and a physical body that houses the spirit and the soul. Now, at the time we surrender our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ – our spirit-man becomes born-again! It is completely changed and made perfect by the Holy Spirit!  Our spirit-man is re-created and redeemed! It is pure and holy, without spot or blemish and is possessed by the Spirit of God! Hallelujah! The Bible says the fullness of God dwells in us – in our spirit-man – so we lack no good thing! (John 1:16, Colossians 2:9-10). In truth, we have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing because the Spirit of God lives in our spirit-man (Ephesians 1:3)! Now, if we continue to remind ourselves of the true condition of our inner-man, according to what God’s Word says about us – we will find our acknowledging and focusing on that truth will have an enormous impact on how we approach God. Why? Because we won’t be focused on how we are feeling in the flesh. We won’t be so caught up in the negativity of the things of the world around us. We won’t be consumed with those carnal thoughts of failure or disappointment or feeling like we are unworthy. No! A believer who constantly reminds himself of who he is in Christ Jesus, and acknowledges every good thing he has because of his position in God is more concerned about the truth than anything his natural, carnal thoughts or feelings are trying to tell him! He has decided to LIVE being dictated to and dominated by his spirit instead of his flesh! As a result – his whole life is pleasing to the Lord and his thoughts, words, and actions are seen as worship. This is what Jesus meant when He said His Father is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and truth! When we live for Him and approach Him on the basis of what the truth of His Word says about us, and we allow our spirits to dominate our lives – we become those living sacrifices bringing glory to Him!
