Spiritually Discern

The Bible says that we will know we are in the last days of the church age when we see great deception on the earth. Now we know that the eyes of unbelievers have already been blinded to the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4), however, this deception will cause even those who have a moral compass to become confused and lose their common sense. Things that were once called wicked will be called good and acceptable, and things that were once called good and decent, will be called wicked and wrong. The warning goes further than the condition of those in the world though – the deception will be seen in the church too.  From the pulpit to the pews, there will be those who have much to say, and their words may even have an element of truth to them, but they will not be in harmony with God and will not carry His Spirit. For believers who are not personally grounded in the truth of God’s Word and are not living in a place where the life of the Holy Spirit is continuously flowing from their spirits into their souls – they will be caught up in the deception too.  Jesus promised that if we continue to abide in Him – we will not be deceived, because we will know the truth by His Spirit!  John 14:16-17 says, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”. When people in the church begin to compromise their stand for the truth of God’s Word to appease others, or society at large – they are no longer living for Christ. When they adjust their moral point of view to align with any view outside of God’s – they have already made a shift on the inside.  Those who truly live for Christ cannot shift from their true identity in Him.  They no longer live to and for themselves or the dictates of the flesh and the world’s standards. That’s because they are fully aware of what they have been saved out of and into! Make sure you are living in a place of spiritual discernment so you will not be counted with those who are being deceived.
