Standing in the Gap

The Lord looked for someone to stand in the gap for the children of Israel but found no one. Had someone done so, He would have held back the disaster that was coming their way as a result of their wicked hearts. When the children of Israel turned their hearts away from the Lord and worshiped a golden calf, Moses fell on his face before the Lord interceding for them. As a  result, God relented from giving them what they deserved. The Bible says that Jesus is our intercessor, He stands before the Father, at the mercy seat, on our behalf.  His blood ensures the redemption of our sin – it’s because of Him alone we are found to be in right standing with God! Hallelujah! However, God’s judgement still awaits those who have refused to turn their hearts towards Him, and are lost in their sinful state. Just as Moses stood in the gap for the children of Israel, we must keep on sincerely praying for those who have not yet bowed their knees to the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you know someone in your realm of influence who is still lost in sin, pray earnestly for the Lord to do a mighty work in their hearts.  Trust Him to give you the right words to speak at the right time so that their hearts will respond to the Gospel. Be the one who stands in the gap for them, and together with the Holy Spirit, lead them to salvation so they don’t have to face judgement and be separated from God for eternity. It’s time to stand in the gap.
