Stop Your Grumbling

While the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness, in spite of the Lord’s provision and protection, they were ungrateful and started grumbling (Numbers 21:4-5). Their constant complaining against the Lord and Moses tried God’s patience and the Bible says they were bitten by fiery serpents. Their negative attitude brought destruction on them. When we begin to grumble and complain we become ungrateful and open the door to the Destroyer to harass us. That is why we should maintain a heart of thankfulness and gratitude, even during tough times, by constantly acknowledging every good thing we have in Christ Jesus! (Philemon 1:6). This way we keep our hearts and minds focused on the victory and limitless power He has given us to reign as kings in life! (Romans 5:17).  Don’t slip into the same trap of complaining that the Israelites fell into. We snare ourselves with the words of our mouths when we begin to complain. Later on in Numbers 14:28, the children of Israel complained against the Lord again, refusing to keep their hearts focused on His goodness and kindness towards them. Their faithless grumbling prevented them from entering the promised land – instead they got exactly what they spoke over themselves (Numbers 14:28). When times seem tough – abound in thanksgiving!  Your praise will draw the goodness of God to you as a moth to the flame! He inhabits the praises of His people – but grumbling gives way to the destroyer.
