The finished work of the cross completely eradicated the devil’s legal hold of oppression and bondage over every born-again believer! This freedom from the devil’s control and harassment stands from time past into eternity, from generation to generation, hallelujah! The Bible says Jesus completely disarmed the evil principalities and made an open show of His triumph over them! (Colossians 2:15). The tables of authority have been turned on the devil! Jesus took back the authority we lost through Adam’s sin, and placed it right into our hands! He declared that we have been given authority over all the power of the devil, and that nothing he sets up against us will by any means harm us! (Luke 10:19). The devil knows this, however he has a criminal nature, and will continue to steal, kill, and destroy unless we take a stand, exercise our authority and stop him. In Ephesians 6, Paul tells us exactly how to do this! He tells us to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might, by putting on, and keeping on the full armour of God! All the armour, from the helmet to the shoes revolve around two main elements: Firstly, the Word of God being alive in our hearts, and secondly, our living righteously before the Lord! This gives us the strength and confidence to resist the devil. James confirms this when he tells us to first submit to God, before we resist the devil in order to see him flee from us! Freedom is yours as you live strong in the Lord and the power of His might!
