The Holy Spirit’s Dwelling Place

Praise God for the precious Holy Spirit! He is the life and the power of the church of Jesus Christ both collectively and individually.  Jesus was the perfect example of what the Presence of the Holy Spirit accomplishes when He dwells within the spirit of a man.  It’s true that when Jesus came to the earth He came as the Son of God in the flesh. However, He chose to strip Himself of all His Godly privileges to become a human being (Philippians 2:7). Jesus taught us how to live dependent on the Spirit of God. His entire human life was enveloped and wrapped up in the Holy Spirit. He was conceived by the Spirit, baptized by the Spirit, led by the Spirit, and worked matchless signs, wonders, and miracles by the power of the Spirit. When people were amazed by the authority and grace by which He taught the Scriptures, and did the works of God, His response was a direct answer to how we can live as He did. John 14:10, “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me? What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives continually in Me does the (His) works (His own miracles, deeds of power).”  At His own admission, Jesus declared that the Holy Spirit dwelling within Him was the sole source of the authority and power that flowed through Him. Then, before the resurrected Jesus left to be reunited with His Father, He turned to His disciples – commissioning them to do all that He had taught and demonstrated for them to do – from generation to generation until His return (Matthew 28:20).  Again, He left them with the answer to how that instruction would be possible to obey – He said, “I am with you always…” Through the Holy Spirit indwelling our spirits – we are able to be inseparably connected to the Father and the Son, and have His authority, life, and power work His mighty works in and through us, just as Jesus taught us to do (John 17:21-23).
