Transformation

Did you know that your spirit, which is your inner-man, and your soul, which is your mind, are extremely closely connected, yet are separate from each other. They are so closely related that the Bible often refers to them occupying the same place, and calls that place our hearts. That’s because they are meant to function together. Depending on the context of the scripture reference, the heart can either be referring to just the spirit, or the spirit and soul.  Now we know that our re-born spirit is perfect, however the Bible tells us we are to renew our souls (minds) to be transformed to look just like our re-born, perfect spirits.  This explains how we have two totally different parts, one being perfect and the other un-perfect, living so closely together that they are  in scripture, often referred to being the same thing – the heart.  For instance, the Word says the heart can be double-minded, evil, corrupted, defiled, deceitful having evil thoughts in it, and that it has the ability to be purified, softened, and renewed! Now, since our spirits are perfect and un able to be contaminated, we know they can’t be any of those things.  Which is why the term heart in many scriptures includes spirit and soul, depending on their context.  The reality is, it’s so difficult to separate the soul and spirit – the only thing that can do it is the Word of God! Hebrews 4:12 tells us that God’s Word acts as a sharp sword that cuts and divides between the soul and the spirit – revealing the true motives of the un-renewed soul and highlighting the thoughts that are contrary to what the Word says and are in conflict with the perfect spirit-man. When the Holy Spirit reveals these incorrect thoughts to us, we are able to take the truth of the Word and align those incorrect thoughts to it – making our souls come into unity with our spirits and the Word of God!  Then, when we begin to speak and declare that truth, from the abundance of our hearts – where the spirit and soul are in agreement – God watches over those words, that mirror His Own, and performs exactly what is being said! (Jeremiah 1:12).  Let God’s Word begin to transform your way of thinking so that your words are in agreement with your spirit and His will. Then you will walk in exactly what He says you can have in this life!
