Trust in the Lord

When Adam sinned, he and all his descendants (the human race) were cursed, causing man to become self-dependent instead of remaining God-dependent. Men’s hearts were turned away from the Lord and they became obsessed with a man-centred faith rather than a God-focussed trust. Jeremiah 17:5 says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the LORD.”  The new-man in Christ understands that his God-focused heart must never be replaced with a self-centred mindset that relies on his own fleshly abilities, instead of depending on the Lord’s almighty provision. We place ourselves in a dangerous position when we formulate a dependency on a man made system, or our own fleshly achievements, or negotiating skills. In truth, these things become a point of idolatry and begin to  heap up curses not blessings. There is nothing secure in a system that is outside of God. It’s time to examine our hearts and consider where we have placed our trust and on whom we have anchored our hope. All of our help comes from Him. Psalm 46:1 says He is an ever-present help. We are promised that He who keeps us will not slumber, nor sleep. He watches over us to help and preserve our very souls (our minds, wills and emotions)! Today, choose to trust in the Lord your God with all our heart, and place your hope in His unfailing love and promised provision – He will never fail you!
