When we fix our focus upon the Lord, we cannot be moved! While Peter was walking on the water, with his gaze set on Jesus, he prevailed against the natural forces of the gusting wind and breaking waves. As long as Stephen’s eyes remained on the vision of Jesus, the stones that blunt his body paled in comparison to the glory he was experiencing and the Devine presence that captivated him. Years later, Paul proclaimed: “… We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Fixing and settling our hearts upon Jesus causes us to not be moved – no matter what comes our way. We know, beyond a shadow of doubt, He truly is for us. That He sustains us and lifts us up. He quickens us and causes us to triumph! When we set the Lord before us, we place ourselves on the Rock – He is our fortress and our exceedingly great reward! As He becomes our focus of attention, and the object of our desire, His life and power is manifest in us and we become unshakable in our faith.
