The Word of God is alive and powerful and is not just full of wonderful promises, it’s loaded with practical wisdom that causes these promises to become a reality in our lives. Romans 15:4 says everything written in the Word is for our instruction, encouragement and hope! When we decide to receive it into our hearts and give it the honour it deserves by joyfully applying its principles – the benefits are wonderful!
The Holy Spirit has promised to be our teacher when it comes to understanding and applying God’s Word to our lives. Philippians 2:13 says He is constantly at work in us, energising and creating in us the power and desire to do what His Word says.
This is how we get to walk in the light – just as Jesus is in the light. We first allow it to change and impact our personal lives, then we make sure that when we are together with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we only honour what the word of God honours and refrain from speaking or doing what it disapproves of. This way we remain fruitful and confident in our faith and become beacons of life and hope to the world around us.
