Watch Those Emotions
Jesus, in His last moments with the disciples, told them to NOT allow their hearts to be troubled. Let’s not forget, the disciples were about to encounter the worst time of their lives – their Rabbi, the Son of God, was about to be taken away from them, be brutally beaten and crucified. They’d come to know and appreciate the power and authority He walked in, and the tender care and compassion that easily flowed from Him. They had given up everything to follow Him and now He was going to leave.

Emotions are very powerful; when we give in to them, letting them rule and lead our decisions, we can find ourselves getting into a whole lot of trouble. The panic that consumed the disciples led to actions they sorely regretted. Understand, through the Holy Spirit, we have total authority over our emotions – no matter the circumstances that give rise to them.

Jesus promised He has already overcome every trial we will ever face, and our hope is secure in trusting Him and His Word through each one. Let your assurance of victory be what dominates your response to trouble – not runaway emotions that only paralyse your faith.
