With His Faith We Overcome!

The Lord said the children of Israel were sojourners with Him in the land of Canaan. A sojourner means a temporary resident. He was saying they were temporary residents with Him in the land He was giving them. When Jacob appeared before Pharoah in the land of Egypt, he confessed that he was a pilgrim on this earth. Like the Israelites, Jacob knew that he was just a temporary resident in this world. In the same way, we as children of God are also pilgrims and sojourners here on earth. We are in this world, but we are not of this world. The things we see and experience now, no matter how troubling, are temporary. Paul says, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”. The Bible says that in this world we will have all sorts of trouble, but we are to take heart and have good cheer, because Jesus has overcome this world for us, and deprived it of its power to harm us (John 16:33)! It even tells us how to overcome! 1 John 5:4 says we overcome by our faith in God!  But it’s not our own faith that has that overcoming power in it – it’s God’s faith in us that makes the impossible possible! Galatians 2:20 (KJV) says that the life which we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God! Though we might have trouble in this world it is not our final destination, yet we have been given the overcoming faith of God to live in victory until we see Jesus face to face! So shake off any kind of despair that tries to attach itself to you and begin to rejoice because you have the faith of God inside of you to overcome!
