Hannah desperately longed for a child of her own. She never gave up on the hope that God would answer her prayer. She kept pursuing Him and spent her days at the Temple praying. When she received a word from Eli, the priest, blessing her and reassuring her that God is faithful and just, peace came over Hannah, and she stopped begging God. In her heart, she knew that at the perfect time, God would grant her heart’s desire. Soon afterwards, she conceived, and within a year, Samuel, one of the most remarkable men of God, was born.
God’s word is full of promises for us. Our high priest, Jesus, has given us His word that we can walk in them. When we believe Him, peace comes over us and we understand that we don’t have to beg or plead – we just need to stay in a place of trust and thankfulness.
Hannah’s season to receive her promise began the moment she received Eli’s reassurance; and peaceful trust flooded over her.
